Engr. Emilio Figueroa started his career in the mining industry as one of the managers in Benguet Corporation’s Dizon Mines.
When he joined the faculty at University of the Philippines, he was instrumental in increasing the student population to more than 400% through his program of encouraging shiftees and transferees who have shown their mettle and interest in the course.
His experience in the industry has given him a good grip of the technologies needed by our aspiring mining engineers and which have been fully imparted to the students, as evidenced by the good showing of our graduates in the board exams. Under his tutelage, UP topped the Board exams for six consecutive years, with a 100% passing rate to boot.
