Samuel “Sammy” Basiao, BSChE 1969

Sammy started his banking career in 1979 after teaching at the College of Engineering and consulting with the Economic Development Foundation. His banking career included stints as AVP of PCIBank and Citibank and later as Vice President in United Overseas Bank of Singapore (Philippine Branch). His experience spans various areas of corporate and consumer banking as well as remedial management and acquired assets.

He is currently Vice President for Corporate Banking at Postal Savings Bank where he handles lending operations. He, along with the new management team brought the bank back to profitability by increasing its loan assets to three times its original level as of year 2014.

He obtained his B.S. Chemical Engineering degree and took graduate units in Industrial Engineering while serving as faculty member of the college.
