“My grandmother is the only one who finances the studies of her grandchildren, our household expenses, and her maintenance medicines. The program helped me shoulder some of the expenses needed for my undergraduate research which was very costly. There were interviews held by the committee, which I think were helpful to guide the grantees throughout their journey in college. Also in SNPL, I was offered different opportunities such as internship and jobs.” – Alvin A. Carandang. BSCE’18
“SNPL helped me a lot during my undergrad years. There were times I still worked even while receiving allowance from the SNPL program but I didn’t have to put in more hours than I used to. It helped a lot, especially in my last two years in college where the academic requirements were very heavy and demanded a lot of time and effort. I feel very blessed that I have been a part of this program and I will work hard so I may be able to give back and help another student in need.” – Ralen Rose Gloria L. Malatbat, BSCoE’18
“The program had an incredibly huge impact on me and my family. I was always grateful because this, combined with what my parents could send me, was always enough for my daily expenses. I no longer had to worry so much about financial matters and was able to focus more on my school requirements and activities. I also appreciate UPAE’s efforts to connect us with opportunities outside the university, like when we were recommended to a company for an internship program.” – Karyl Angelu A.Borromeo, BSChE’18
The Study Now Pay Later (SNPL) program provides a student loan of P60,000 per school year available to incoming third year students and up at the UPD College of Engineering (COE). The loan becomes due and payable β three years after the student graduates or one year after gainful employment, whichever is earlier — without interest and at the same schedule that the loan was received. To date, 25 have benefitted — or are currently benefitting — from the program, which commenced 2016.
We salute you, SNPL graduates! As Dr. Benito M. Pacheco asserted in his inspirational message to the CoE graduates: βYou are the best technology of this universe; to do well and to do good, apply yourself.β
