UPAE Announces 2018 Homecoming Theme
The UPAE Board formally announced its theme for the 2018 Homecoming: “Bridging Globally Competitive Engineers“.
“UP has raised some of the most globally competitive engineers. Over the next year, the board will endeavour to reach out to different alumni groups around the country and abroad. It is our hope that by partnering with different associations of UP engineers, we may unlock resources that will help the college meet today’s global challenges.” says UPAE President Jun Alcabasa.
UPAE and UPLB College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology Alumni Association (CEAT-AA), Inc., are currently finalizing a memorandum of agreement to formalize the partnership between both independent parties. One highlight of the MOA is the proposal to extend the UPAE’s Study Now Pay Later program to financially-challenged engineering students of UPLB.
According VP External Delzi Ildefonso, “The agreement we are working on with our colleagues from Los Baños may well serve as a template for future partnerships with other UP alumni engineer associations.” Some groups have already been identified most notably from the US (east and west coasts) and Australia.
2018 Alumni Homecoming
The 2018 Alumni Homecoming which heralds the year’s theme, takes place this:
November 17, 2018 (Saturday) at Ang Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman
VP Internal and Homecoming Organizing Committee Chairman Caccus Berba stated that aside from the traditional segments such as Alumni Awards, election and oath-taking of new trustees, and recognition of Jubilarians (15, 25, 40, and 50 years), the get-together promises a lot more fellowship than previous homecomings, with live performances, band music and dancing.
