Induction of the 2019 UPAE Board of Trustees
The UP Alumni Engineers (UPAE) Board of Trustees was formally inducted last Monday, March 11 at the UP Board Room, Quezon Hall. Gracing this occasion, and present to induct the officers was no less than Danilo L.”Danicon” Concepcion, 21st President of the University of the Philippines .
Outgoing UPAE Trustee and President Jun Alcabasa opened the evening by recapping key achievements in 2018. President Concepcion was then formally invited to share updates on Alumni Activity across the different colleges. He highlighted the ongoing repairs and renovations in an effort to restore the campus to its former glory.
This was then followed by the formal oath-taking led by Pres. Concepcion. Present to take their respective oaths were: Carlos Antonio M. Berba (Incoming UPAE President), Ildefonso E. Banzali (Vice-President External), Benedict M. Canonizado (Secretary), Jonathan M. Aguilar (Treasurer), Raul N. Alvarez, Francisco A. Arellano, Florence A. Galeon, Manfred M. Guangko, Cesar M. Hernandez, Raymund Ilustre, Leon Silvano R. Ramos, and Raymundo P. Reyes.
After the oath-taking, incoming UPAE President Caccus Berba gave a speech to accept the responsibility and to share his vision of UPAE. The ceremony was concluded with words from VP-External Banzali. This was then followed by a light snack, a bit of fellowship and more picture-taking. Lending honor to the event was the presence of COE Dean Rizalinda de Leon.Β The program was hosted by UPAE Executive Director Dr. Eric Augustus J. Tingatinga.
Not surprisingly, immediately after the affair, the newly inducted trustees “rolled up their sleeves” and transferred to their home base at the National Engineering Center to discuss execution of the UPAE calendar of activitiesΒ that they started planning since February.
The annual oath-taking also serves as an informal “alignment” of priorities between the Alumni Engineers and the Office of the President.
