Eric Augustus J. Tingatinga, BSGE ‘97
Eric is a Professor from the UP Institute of Civil Engineering (UP- ICE), specializing in earthquake engineering. His research interests include structural dynamics, vulnerability assessment of buildings, simulation and analysis of progressive collapse of buildings and its non-structural components. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Structural Analysis, Structural Dynamics, Engineering Mechanics and Numerical Methods. He obtained his BS Geodetic Engineering degree from UP Diliman and his MSCE and PhD-CE degrees from Saitama University, Japan under scholarships from ADB-JSP and the Japanese government.
He was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) visiting researcher at Utsunomiya University in 2004 and an Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) Post- Doctorate fellow at Saitama University in 2010 and 2014. Dr. Tingatinga served as the Deputy Director for Students and Alumni of the UP-ICE (2013-2016) and currently is the Associate Dean for Institutional Linkages of the UP College of Engineering (2016-present). He is likewise currently the Executive Director of the U.P. Alumni Engineers since 2017.
