Founded in 1955 with the purpose of promoting camaraderie and academic excellence among ME majors. Today, the organization continues to rally for the attainment of its mission- pursuing excellence in the field engineering for the benefit of society. With this undertaking, the organization provides innovative avenues in which its members can utilize and impart their acquired knowledge to the community.

Some of the activities and projects of the UP GPs include the Machine Design Summit, a series of events that allows students to gain a greater appreciation of the role of ME in nation building, and the Diliman Motorshow, a nineteen-year-old tradition wherein car enthusiasts from around the metro showcase their automobiles. These projects were initiated to diversity the capabilities of the members beyond academics and prove that the members of the UP GPs are, indeed, well-rounded individuals who will be versatile engineers of the future.
