After finishing his mechanical engineering course, Engr. Virgilio Isidro became an engineering supervisor at Union Carbide after a stint as cadet engineer. He shifted to Pepsi Cola and later to Wrigley Philippines to work as plant engineer, jobs which developed his expertise in maintaining plant machinery and other facilities in top shape.

Warner–Lambert Philippines took him as Director of Production and then Vice President for manufacturing to improve production output, efficiency and quality – going beyond engineering and requiring management of people and things. He became Operations Director for Southeast Asia of Kraft Foods, becoming the General Manager for its company in Thailand and Operations Director of the same company in Indonesia.

He returned to the Philippines and was hired by Universal Robina Corporation to professionalize and streamline the organization, consolidate plants, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency. The work required a multinational background, technical expertise in the areas of biscuits, beverage and confectionery, supply chain knowledge, and work experience in other Asian markets.

Since 2008, he has been with Wyeth Philippines. He is the first Filipino Managing Director appointed to manage the Nutritional Plant at Canlubang, Philippines, specifically to lead the development and implementation of strategies that will make the Canlubang plant operate at optimum manufacturing efficiency and output levels, while achieving company-set quality standards and excellent customer service.

Corporate governance covering all aspects of plant engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customer service have been the hallmark of the 39-year career of Engr. Isidro.
