UPAE Elects Seven New Board Members for 2017

During the Homecoming on November 12, UPAE will elect seven new Board members to join the 15-member UPAE Board. Fourteen nominees vying for the seats are:

1.  Dante Dan Abando – Vice President and Management Committee member of Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) and concurrently President and CEO Makati Development Corporation (MDC).  He was responsible for MDC’s transformation by re-establishing its vision and objectives, building capability to handle more than 400 projects in design, procurement and construction, as well as spinning off subsidiaries to enable efficiencies in specialized construction services.  Holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from U.P and a recipient of the UPAE Professional Degree Award in Civil Engineering. 2016 UPAE Board Member.
2.  Gerardo “Jett” Angeles – Engineer, product developer, regional business manager and consultant for several startups and listed firms across Asia and the United States. His professional involvements have been in the areas of design engineering applications, product management, strategic technical planning, marketing and business development. In addition to a bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from UP Diliman, he earned degrees in M.S. in Engineering from the Santa Clara University and M.B.A. (with honors) from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
3.  Silvino Jhun Alcabasa – Project Director & Deputy Head of Project Management Office of MIESCOR. He graduated 5th in class with a BS degree from PMA. While in military service, he continued his studies then graduated BS Civil Engineering and MS National Security Administration in 2004. He served as Secretary of the UPAE in 2015.
4.  Ildefonso Del Banzali – Co-founder and currently the President & CEO of CV Solutions, Inc., a company involved in the sale, manufacture, and trade of specialty chemical programs, with major applications in water treatment, and various disinfection applications.  The company has offices, warehouses and manufacturing facilities in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.
5. Jaime Bing del Rosario –President, One Small Step Forward Foundation, Inc., providing after-school academic programs and infrastructure support for the QC public elementary school system; President & Managing Director of Accenture Philippines in 2002 and Country Managing Partner of Andersen Consulting Philippines for 6 years. Was a consulting partner, since 1985, with SGV & Co.-Arthur Andersen’s management services; wrote a weekly business management column for Business Day/ Business World; Sat on a number of boards and advisory groups; 2015-2016 UPIEAA President and 100 Top Engineers of the COE’s first 100 years.
6.  Elmir  dela Cruz – Retired Major, worked 35 years in communications, electronics and information system at the AFP. While in the Military Service, he became an instrument for the deployment of the modern high frequency portable radios for the Philippine Army and played a vital role in the reform and modernization program of the Bureau of Customs I as Acting District Collector. In 1979, he graduated from the PMA with honors and got his commission in the Phil. Army as 2nd Lieutenant.  Graduated BS Industrial Engineering at UP in 1991 and MS in Management from Phil Christian University, Manila in 2010. UPAE 2014 National Achievement Awardee for Military Service.
7.  Liberito Levy  Espiritu – President of DATEM INC., which companies include mid-rise office buildings, sprawling developments, and high-rise condominiums. Levy continues to serve the construction industry by being active in professional and trade organizations. He is the immediate past president of the Philippine Constructors Association, Inc., past Board Member of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines and the Executive Director of the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors Association; served as UPAE President in 2016.
8.  Ronaldo Jarlego Guariña – Director & Treasurer of Lemonade Twist Enterprise Inc. GIS Consultant & Geodetic Engineer of Geomatica Engineering Services and a Member of Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines. Graduated BS Geodetic Engineering in 2005.
9.  Rene Ronnie Nolasco – 33 years work experience in Procter & Gamble in the Philippines and Asia Regional Management; served in Industrial Engineering, Productions, Process and Utilities Groups prior to his promotion as Plant Manager of the Makati, then of the Tondo plants. He supervised the construction of the new plant in Cabuyao, Laguna as the Philippines Engineering Manager. Assumed the position of Regional Engineering Manager overseeing the design & construction of all the capital investment projects of the corporation in China, India, Vietnam, Japan, Korea and Philippines. BSEE in 1976 and holds a Masters and Doctorate in Business Administration from UP.
10.  Patrick Anthony Anton Pascual – President of Banquet Specialty Shoppe Incorporation. He is also the Chief Executives Officer of BSSI Global Events, Inc. a regional events office based in Hong Kong since 2010. He has also worked for A.P. Pascual Construction as a Project Manager from 1989-1994 with various projects in MWSS, DPWH, and the Quezon City Government. At present, Mr. Pascual still serves as a consultant to the company in its private housing projects. Prior to that he also served as a technical consultant to the Board of Directors of the Local Water Utilities Administration from 1992-1996, BS Civil Engineering graduate.
11. Daniel Dan Peckley – Principal Engineer and General Manager of DPJ Engineers & Consultants. Manages, directs, and supervises the operations and projects of the firm, which include the ongoing construction of three highway projects and a bridge project. Former lecturer for structural and geotechnical engineering courses to undergraduate and graduate students. Graduated BS Civil Engineeringin 1995, MS Engineering at Saitama Univ., Japan in 1998 and PhD in Civil Engineering at the Univ.of Tokyo, Japan in 2007.
12. Wilfredo Willy Rada – Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, COE UP Diliman. Teaching Mathematical Methods in GE, Earth’s Gravity and Geoid Modeling, and Engineering drawing. Graduated BS Geodetic Engineering in 1987 and MS Applied Mathematics (Major in Computer Science) in 1995.
13. Leon Silvano Leon Ramos – Vice – President of Matheus Realty Corporation.  Currently a Member of various Companies & Organizations such as Kobra Inc, Pugad Lawin sa Balayan, Inc., Rotary Club of Palanyag & Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Batangas City. Graduated BS Civil Engineering in 1990 and Juris Doctor at the Ateneo de Manila Univ. School of Law in 1995.
14. Edwin Soliman–Head/Advisor – Infrastructure Delivery Information System Group of Globe Telecom Philippines, Inc. 2012-2013. With over 32 years of experience in Infrastructure Service Delivery, 20 years in Service Management in support of Banking and 12 years in IT environment. Graduated BS Electrical Engineering in 1980.
