Sid Consunji Leads 2016 UP Alumni Engineer Awardees

Isidro “Sid” Consunji, Chairman of the Board of the DMCI Holdings, will receive the UPAE Most Distinguished Alumnus Award during the 68th Annual Alumni Homecoming of the UP Alumni Engineers on November 12, 6:00 pm at the Manila Polo Club, McKinley Road, Makati City. Keynoting the affair is DOST Secretary and a UP alumni engineer, Fortunato de la Pena.

With the theme Inhenyero ng Bayan – Kaagapay sa Malawakang Pag-unlad, this years’ homecoming is the culmination of highly successful activities that commenced in the past year under the banner of Engineering Heroes Giving Back. UPAE intensified its efforts for the Study Now Pay Later Program (SNPL) that provides financial aid to needy engineering students who in the future, will play a vital role in bringing about inclusive growth for the country.  

The affair will also recognize outstanding alumni who have distinguished themselves in their areas of specialization.  Apart from I. Consunji, the following will receive their Professional Degree Awards: Christopher Tamayo, Civil Engineering; Luis Sison, Electronics and Communication Engineering; Raymond Arnold Alberto, Geodetic Engineering; Josef Teofisto Yap, Industrial Engineering; Ferdinand Manegdeg, Mechanical Engineering; Mary Lyn Chong Lim, Materials Engineering; Gerardo Angeles, Metallurgical Engineering; Ramon Santos, Mining Engineering; Don Mustapha Loong, National Achievement Award (NAA) for Government Service; Emmanuel Lorenzana, National Achievement Award (NAA) for Broadcast Media; Fernand Antonio Tansingco, National Achievement Award (NAA) for Finance; Edgardo Paynor, National Achievement Award (NAA) for Entrepreneurship (Information Technology); James Serafin Porter, Jr., National Achievement Award (NAA) for Entrepreneurship (Quality Assurance Services); Federico Monsada, National Achievement Award (NAA) for Engineering Education; Silvino Alcabasa, Jr., National Achievement Award (NAA) for Public Service.  Alfredo B. Juinio, Jr., Posthumous Award.UPAE President Liberito “Levy” Espiritu will also recognize Past UPAE President Emlio “Lilit” Tumbocon with a Presidential Award.

In keeping with tradition, the homecoming will be an occasion for UP alumni engineers to renew friendships with colleagues and contemporaries, to make new contacts, even as they recognize alumni whose contributions to society, the University, and the country have made them outstanding models of inclusive growth. Alumni also get to elect trustees who will fill in half of the board seats to be vacated. The affair will also see the release of the UP Alumni Engineers Yearbook, the 2016 Ingenium.  

The SNPL fund raising Raffle launched last year will be drawn with a Toyota Fortuner, Honda Jazz and Apple computers and gadgets as prizes. Attendance in not required to win the raffle, but those attending will have the additional chances of winning door prizes. Coming home has never been this fun!

Registration starts at 5:30 pm, with dinner at 6:00pm, followed soon after by the official program to be hosted by Tuesday Vargas.  Attendees are encouraged to come in their Filipiniana outfits.
