UP Alumni Achievers: Cristy Tambo

Engr. Cristy M. Tambo, a licensed Geodetic Engineer, is currently the President of FILSITE Mapping Solutions. Being the sole owner of FILSITE Mapping Solutions, an 11-year-old surveying company that offers Surveying, IT, Engineering, Mapping, and Consultancy, she has provided excellent service to numerous clients as well as employment to hundreds of Filipinos nationwide.

She is also the incoming president of the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines- National Capital Region (GEPNCR), apart from serving as the immediate past president of the UP Geomatics Alumni Association (UPGAA), and treasurer of the Unmanned Aerial System Mapping Association of the Philippines (U-MAP). And has joined several conventions such as the Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO) and the ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics (AFLAG).

With over 20 years of extensive experience in the fields of Geomatics, Surveying, Remote Sensing, GIS, Project Management, Business Development, and Consultancy, she has well-rounded exposure and strong partners in the local and international geospatial industries with a track record of successful project implementation and management.

She is also a managing partner and co-owner of GEOINFOMETRICS Solutions Co., company specializing in IT and GIS that provides local governments with a system that promotes good and transparent governance and makes public transactions easier and faster. GEOINFO has a MOA with UP Open University (UPOU) to provide reasonably priced Technical GIS Seminars and Training. Additionally, the business provides Feasibility Studies and Comprehensive Land-Use Plans.

Prior to establishing her own businesses, she worked for one of the largest surveying firms in the country for nearly a decade. She chose to remain in the Philippines, despite the numerous opportunities offered to her abroad, because she believes she can serve the country by providing honest, high-quality services to government projects.

She strongly supports women’s empowerment and equality, particularly in male-dominated professions. She encourages and supports younger generations to participate actively and become future leaders of the organizations in which she is currently involved.

She received her B.S. degree in Geodetic Engineering from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, in 2002.
