Engr. Hazel Ann Fajardo, M.D. is a licensed medical doctor and chemical engineer, currently working as a general practitioner in Manila, as well as a COVID-19 treatment facility physician. She also engages in Public Health and community medicine.

Since 2017, Dr. Hazel has worked as a physician for the Department of Health, first as a Doctor to the Barrios, then as a Medical Officer for the Undersecretary for Health Systems and Development Team at the National Office, and most recently as a COVID-19 Vaccination Site Medical Officer in a province. As a Fulbright scholar, she will pursue a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health at the Yale University School of Public Health.

After completing medical school, she developed an interest in working with environmental programs. As Doctor to the Barrio, Hazel was assigned as the sole doctor and head of the local health department for a population of 30,000, where she managed clinical patient cases and implemented the municipality’s local health programs. By collaborating with engineering and industrial students from her college to address public health issues, she has always enjoyed reconnecting with her engineering roots and introducing them to public health. These experiences and history have provided her an exceptional and promising foundation for pursuing a degree in Public Health with a concentration in Environmental Health. This training will provide a technical, global, and environmental perspective to the practice of public health and, with any luck, will inspire more collaborative innovations between various fields of expertise.

Hazel enjoys being outside in her spare time. She enjoys going on bike rides, snorkeling or scuba diving at the beach, camping, and hiking. She enjoys staying in and watching television series or movies on occasion. She has three dogs at home because she adores them.

She obtained her degree in Chemical Engineering in UP Diliman, while she finished her doctor of medicine degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 2016.
