A brief ceremony took place last May 18, 2022 at the Cristy Hernandez Activity Center to honor awardees of the Melchor Hall Site and Engineering Complex Conceptual Landscape Design Competition—an initiative of the UP Alumni Engineers under the able leadership of the past and current UPAE Presidents Engr. Elmir de la Cruz and Engr. Patrick Anthony Pascual, respectively.

The competition was launched last January 2022, open to PRC-registered Landscape Architects. A total of six teams submitted entries which were then reviewed under technical and aesthetic criteria. Subsequently, 3 finalist were chosen from which were determined the following winners:

1st Place

“This contest is part of a university-wide program to provide both the campus community and general public ‘instagramable’ outdoor spaces for study and socialising,” said College of Engineering Dean Professor Ferdinand G. Manegdeg. ”Projects such as this contribute immensely to the mental health of our community.”

The ceremony was attended by representatives from both UPAE and the COE. Set up included a digital display showcasing the winning designs.  

“Participation by the teams in this program is very much appreciated, considering limited time, comprehensive scope and the challenges of the pandemic,” Manegdeg continued.
