UPAE Board of Trustees Set to Convene UPD Engineering Alumni Leadership

“How may I help?!”

Amidst the challenges arising from the Covid pandemic, this cry has resounded far too often from netizens. It is with this Filipino bayanihan spirit that the UPAE Board initiated discussions with a government office to help alleviate the effects of the crisis.

Some possible collaborations include: the retro-fitting of on-campus diagnostic, isolation, and even treatment facilities; a quarantine center in Malabon; a home-based  healthcare call center to connect patients with medical specialists, and; a fund drive to support households of the afflicted.

The leaders of the different UPD engineering alumni associations will convene very soon to discuss details on how these initiatives may be most effectively implemented.

“We hold in high regard the ongoing humble efforts of our citizens to help address the problems our country faces,” says UPAE President Gen Elmir Dela Cruz. “We are inspired to rally our members into action towards alleviating this pandemic.”

The UP Alumni Engineers is the primary organization that unifies the alumni of the UP College of Engineering (COE).  Its mission, as written in the UPAE By-laws, is to promote the engineering profession “towards helping address the needs of the country and the public it serves.”
